So i would like to introduce to our team..starting at the top of the food chain.....
Mr & Mrs Pulp ..... AKA Paula & Mickey
We are a couple of crazies who love a challange. After running a Walking Holiday Hotel in The Lake district for 6 years having to cater for up to 25 people daily we noticed how dietary needs and lifestyle choices have changed rapidly over the years and quickly learned how to deal with them while ensuring that they went away satisfied with the food they were fed over the week...and usually came back for more so we were doing something right. We adapted our dishes to cover gluten free, dairy free and refined sugar free sometimes cooking several versions of the meal every day until eventually we just served the whole party the adapted meal and they did not know the difference..our skills were honed and it was time to come back to the north east coast. Food has always been Paula's love after studying food technology and working in the manufacturing industry for 7 years as a Food Development manager so going back to food development has been a natural progression for her and development is exactly what this is, taking a recipe and developing it into something extremely tasty, healthy and keeping it wholefood plant based. Mr Pulp aka Mickey has stepped into the brainstorming shoes and spends his days developing new recipes in the kitchen all day and making our famous rostis, and secret recipe pastry for his pies as we really do make everything from scratch while myself and our staff are now dab hands at rustling up sweet treats to tickle your taste buds and working that juicer to serve up life giving slow pressed juices .
Our love of mid century design is very obviously present in the cafe with a little bit of kitsch put in for good measure. We both wanted to create a space that is comfy, cosy and roomy so that people of all ages and walks of life can relax and enjoy tasty healthy food without the added stress of whether they are OK to eat what is on offer...we hope we have delivered this. Mickey is the master of interior design and it is all his doing, building everything from recycled materials...even the kitchen is an original 1960's piece taken from the house ourselves then worked into the space, he searched far and wide for the furniture keeping in with the recycled theme adding querky little features and of course lava & bubble lamps we have found on our journeys.
Next up with have Cameron aka Cam whom is a little juicing powerhouse working that juices like nobody's business. Cam is in her last year at school before starting her A levels and she is one of the cogs of our very busy weekends and will flit from job to job without the bat of an eyelid, always looking for the next job to do just what you need on busy days in the cafe. Cam is about to embark on a Mexican adventure raising money for the trip to help street kids so watch out in the cafe for Mexican weekends and fun fund raising happenings... like a lot of young people her age where she is heading in life is a still a mystery to her but i am sure she will go far with her nothing is a bother attitude and the ability to turn her hand to anything...photo to follow as she is a bit of a scarlet pimpernel...
Finally have Isabelle AKA Izzy. After leaving the family for a spot of travelling Izzy is back and ready to give us her all.. Izzy is our happy little vegan whom is back on board and in training to be our assistant manager or if i make my millions she can fast track straight to manager and allow me to bask in the sun somewhere. Izzy loves people and asking random hypothetical questions, animals and FOOD... Izzy loves cooking up a storm and inventing new desserts. Keep your eye out on our social media platforms as Izzy is going to be doing a take over and honing her business skills over the coming months.
